About Our Foundation

Radhey Kalyankari Foundation is a registered community welfare organization (Reg. No: 377212/82/83) based in Birtamode, Jhapa — feeding, training, and uplifting the Terai through compassion-led social enterprise.

From a Kitchen to a Movement

Radhey Kalyankari Foundation began with a simple truth: no one in our community should go hungry. What started as a small dal-bhat distribution for childern neighbours in Birtamode has grown into a multi-sector welfare movement touching every corner of Jhapa.

Today, our flagship initiative — Aama ko Bhansaghar (Mother's Kitchen) — operates as both a social enterprise and a training ground, serving nutritious meals while training women in cooking, food hygiene, and hospitality. Revenue from the kitchen sustains our charitable work, creating a self-reinforcing cycle of impact.

Alongside, our Tara Namaste programme ensures our children are never forgotten, while our disaster response kitchens stand ready for every monsoon flood across the Terai. We are, at our core, kalyankari — doers of welfare.

Aama ko Bhansaghar community kitchen

Nourish. Train. Uplift. Repeat.

Our mission is to build a self-sustaining ecosystem of welfare — where a social enterprise (Aama ko Bhansaghar) funds charitable service, where vocational training creates livelihoods, and where every sector we touch strengthens the next.

From school children receiving mid-day meals to women launching micro-enterprises from our kitchen, from childern beneficiaries receiving daily dal-bhat to communities protected during Terai floods — our work is interconnected, holistic, and deeply local.

We believe the most powerful change happens when communities feed, train, and protect their own.

Our Programs

Sixteen interconnected sectors. One unified mission. From Aama ko Bhansaghar to Kleanit upcycling, explore the initiatives shaping a stronger, healthier, more resilient Jhapa.

Tara Namaste Bhandaran

The Tara Namaste Bhandaran is a community meal initiative run by Radhey Kalyankari Foundation (RKF) in Birtamode, Jhapa. The programme ensures that vulnerable individuals in our community receive nutritious, freshly cooked vegetarian meals twice a day — morning and evening — without having to worry about where their next meal is coming from.

We partnered with Aama ko Bhansaghar, a local restaurant committed to quality home-style cooking, to prepare and deliver these meals directly to our beneficiaries.

What We Did

Over a 23-day period spanning Baisakh and Jestha 2083 BS, Radhey Kalyankari Foundation delivered 1,279 hot vegetarian meals to community members in need. That is 665 morning meals and 614 evening meals — prepared fresh, every day, rain or shine.

Every meal was priced at NPR 100, keeping the programme affordable and sustainable. The total investment in this cycle of the programme was NPR 1,27,900.

Why It Matters

Food insecurity is invisible until it isn't. Many people in our community — the elderly, daily wage workers between jobs, individuals going through hardship — skip meals not by choice but by circumstance. Tara Namaste Bhandaran removes that burden, even if only for a season.
A hot meal is more than nutrition. It is a signal that someone sees you, and that the community you belong to has not forgotten you.

Our Partner

Aama ko Bhansaghar, based in Birtamode-5, Jhapa, has been an essential partner in making this programme work on the ground. Their kitchen team ensures every meal is prepared with care, consistency, and the kind of warmth that only home cooking carries.

Tara Namaste

Morning Tuition Programme

Radhey Kalyankari Foundation has expanded its work at Tara Namaste beyond meals. We now run a free morning tuition programme, providing structured academic support to children from the local community before their school day begins. A dedicated tuition teacher works with students across mixed age groups and grade levels, covering all subjects — from Nepali and English to Mathematics and beyond. For many of these children, this is the only time they receive focused, one-on-one attention with their studies.

What We Do

Every morning at Tara Namaste, between 25 and 40 students gather not just for a meal, but for an education. Our teacher works through each child's curriculum, helping them understand lessons they may have missed, build foundational skills, and develop the confidence to perform in school.
No child is turned away. No subject is off the table.

Why It Matters

Many families in Birtamode face conditions where academic support at home simply is not possible. Parents working long hours, overcrowded homes, no access to private tutoring — these are not excuses, they are realities. Children in these circumstances often fall behind, not because they are not capable, but because no one had the time to sit with them.
This programme creates that time.
A child who understands their lessons goes to school with confidence. A child who goes to school with confidence stays in school. And a child who stays in school has a future that is genuinely their own.

Our Approach

We believe learning happens best in a calm, welcoming environment. The morning tuition session at Tara Namaste is low-pressure and student-led — children work at their own pace, ask questions freely, and receive support tailored to where they actually are, not where the syllabus says they should be.
Combined with the morning meal programme, students arrive nourished in body and prepared in mind — ready to make the most of their school day.

Two Programmes, One Mission

The morning tuition programme sits alongside the Tara Namaste Bhandaran meal service as part of RKF's broader commitment to whole-person care. A fed child who cannot access education is still a child left behind. An educated child who goes hungry cannot focus. Together, these two programmes address both needs — and that is exactly the point.
